This video faithfully reproduces the Nage-waza or throwing techniques that have been developed in tournaments ever since the Kodokan was founded in 1882 through to the present day.

Both basic and applied Waza are shown. Something you can always keep at hand, it is a practical teaching aid which will enable you to grasp an accurate understanding of the correct principles of Kuzushi, Tsukuri, and Kake (breaking balance, positioning and execution) of all *67 Nage-waza techniques, as well as learning to distinguish their various classifications and names.

*According to the Waza-Meisho change made in April, 1996, Nage-waza became 67 techniques in all. Both "Ippon-seoi-nage" and "Sode-tsurikomi-goshi" became independent wazas.

  • Shows not only the basic techniques, but also dozens of applications of the 65 Nage-waza (throwing techniques) of Kodokan Judo.
  • Contains easy to understand explanations of similar Waza, e.g. Seoi-nage and Seoi-otoshi, Kosoto-gari and Kosoto-gake, etc.
  • Rare footage of Professor Jigoro Kano, the founder of Kodokan Judo, giving instruction on Uki-goshi.
  • Practical demonstrations of 10th Dan Kyozo Mifune's favourite techniques, Sumi-otoshi and O-guruma.
  • Accurate demonstration of Yama-arashi, the favourite technique of Shiro Saigo, one of the top four Judokas of the early days of the Kodokan.
  • Brilliant Nage-waza performed by world class athletes.
